Passed the Test? Now What...?

When you are 17 and released from the tethers of a Provisional Driving Licence, the last thing you think about is more driver training.

The problem is that young drivers statistically are more at risk from having a Road Traffic Collision that any other age group.

Increasing your driving skills can have many benefits, not only from your own driving pleasure, but it can also cost you less as well. Taking a Pass Plus Course or an IAM Skill for Life Course can also help reduce your car insurance, it will also help you drive more economically which will save fuel and reduce wear and tear on your car.

Pass Plus

Pass Plus is a 6 module course that can be delivered by your Approved Driving Instructor. It consists of 6 modules which should take a minimum of 6 hours to cover.

The modules include:
  • town driving
  • all weather driving
  • rural roads
  • driving at night
  • dual carriageways
  • motorways
You can take the course at anytime, though ideally you should complete it within 12 months of passing your test.

The price for a Pass Plus Course wth Oasis Driving School is here. Some councils offer a rebate on the Pass Plus course. If you live in the Bristol Area click here.

Skill For Life

The IAM's advanced driving program is called 'Skill for Life'. It is a course designed to increase your skills and confidence in all manner of driving conditions. The IAM is a national charity, but there is also a Bristol based group as well.

The driving method is based on Roadcraft, the police driving system.

To complete the course you take the IAM Advanced Driving Test.
