Under 17 Driving

Can’t wait until you are 17 to learn to drive?

Excited about getting behind the wheel?

Once you are 16 you can get off to a flying start with the Under 17 Driving Course run by North Avon Driving Instructors Association (NADIA) in association with South Gloucestershire Council’s Road Safety Team.

This is a six week course comprising of 6 theory sessions and 6 hours practical experience.

The theory session are held in Yate Library on a Thursday evening from 6:45pm to 8:15pm. These sessions will include useful information in helping with the theory test, skills and knowledge to improve your experience on the road and tips to keeping a good attitude when faced with tricky situations.

The practical sessions are held in a private road network in Chipping Sodbury and you can choose to attend on either a Saturday or Sunday morning. All the instructors are fully qualified and will only use cars equipped with dual controls. You will learn basic car controls, steering, gear changing, clutch control and reversing in a fun, team environment.
